Baja Misadventures Part DEUX, Episode 1: Prerunning Ain’t Easy!
One of the things that we love about the guys over at Hoonigan is that they bring about the same attitude into everything that they tackle. Not only do they try to stay positive and upbeat about every situation, making a good out of something that many would consider to be potentially bad but, they also have this mentality that really makes them just want to send it. Even when things aren’t perfect, they’re all about getting out there having a good time with what’s at their fingertips. Even if the machine isn’t exactly “finished,” you might just see it get hucked through the desert anyway.
This time, we’re taken along for the ride that catches up with the guys and their Baja style Volkswagen Beetle pre-runner, a machine that is designed specifically for the purpose of handling the desert and all of the different terrain that might come their way while traveling at high speed. It might sound like something of a rather simple task, however, blasting through the desert at higher than normal speeds isn’t something that’s going to go easy on the suspension so these things need to be built to be able to stand up to the test.
If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to watch as the truck comes together and really grabs your attention as you begin to wonder just how this thing is going to handle the heat once it gets going. As with many other builds that you’ll see from all around the community, by the time they’re ready to go to pound on it, the machine might not exactly be where they want it to but that doesn’t stop them from having a good time anyway. After checking this one out for yourself, you almost get the feeling that you won’t be able to turn down the need to go for a ride in one of these things.
