Barn Find: Jackpot Insurance Salvage – 1969 Camaro Indy Pace Convertible
The vintage automobile market is one that can throw us through quite the obstacle course. There are cars that are rare and have nostalgic value but don’t seem to be worth very much money. However, a car that seemingly is very similar but with one slightly different variant could be worth tons of money. Perhaps this is what makes the whole idea so exciting because a collector really never knows what they’re going to get. Getting to that find can be a ton of fun. Sometimes, an enthusiast might even know the vehicle might not be worth a ton of money but could be worth the restoration just based on what one enjoys.
This time, we find what might be a barn find jackpot of sorts. The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was discovered at an insurance salvage auction and really didn’t look like much when these guys got their hands on it. However, the convertible that did its time as an Indy Pace Car has since been very much on its way to becoming what it was in its former glory. After being exposed to a fire, this Camaro certainly wasn’t going to be one that would come along easily. However, when all is said and done, we would venture to think that it’s going to be more than worth it. It should be one hot ride, minus the fire, of course.
By following along with the video below, we can learn a little bit about why they chose to work on this car in particular. After all, the decision would come with the investment of blood, sweat, and tears along with a good sum of money. The car certainly isn’t finished yet but is well on its way as we get to see some major progress being made to bring the car back to the condition that it was in when it was making laps around Indy with a nice little shine.
