Braking Cable Snaps on USS Eisenhower During Landing
When the E-2C Hawkeye was coming in hot for a landing, the only thing between it and rolling off of the other side of the aircraft carrier it would land on was a cable to slow it down.
However, in a brief moment, that cable would snap, leaving the airplane no option but to roll off of the back end of the runway and begin to fall.
When we saw the plane going down, we thought that was it – this thing was bound to become a deep sea relic, never to be seen again.
Check out the video below, though, as somehow, the pilot found a way to yank the controls in such a way that the plane would catch lift again. This is one jaw-dropping sequence of events if we’ve ever seen one!
