Brian “CHUCKY” Davis -The “Aftermath” Interview
Much of the drag racing world – and certainly all of the grudge racing community – remembers the wild weekend Brian “Chucky” Davis had a few weeks ago. For those who may have forgotten, Davis went for not one, but two wild rides in the same weekend at Darlington Dragway.
The first mishap came in pre-race testing when the center of Davis’ Cartel-built rear wheel broke just around the outside of the hub, shearing the wheel’s spokes and dropping the car onto the track before sending it skidding into the retaining wall. Davis, never one to shy away from a challenge, got his crew fired up and they went to work repairing the car for shootout yet to come.
The team thrashed and got the car ready to race again and even made a solid test hit before the opening round of the shootout. However, in the mad dash to get the car race-ready, a broken bolt in the wishbone was overlooked, mainly due to the break being tucked in a collar that would not have been visible without removing the wishbone itself. This single broken bolt caused the rear end to shift under the car upon Brian completing the run, sending it once again sliding out of control. This time, instead of just tagging the wall, the car rolled and was completely destroyed.
This video from Payso Productions finds Brian a few days removed form the mayhem, ready to discuss the pair of crashes in depth. Davis also discusses his plans for the future, which his fans have been waiting to hear!
