Cadillac’s New Escalade to Receive Same Supercharged V8 Found in C7 Z06
If there’s one thing that’s a blast to watch, it’s the performance SUV. There’s just something so fun about a big and functional vehicle being able to hang with lightweight sports cars. When an SUV packs a punch, it’s guaranteed to leave jaws on the floor. Even when they know what’s coming, onlookers still can’t help but be impressed by what these things have to offer.
These days, unfortunately, we don’t see all that many producers in the performance SUV category. These days, for those looking to haul the family and have some oomph under their foot have very few options. It seems like the SRT lineup of Jeeps is about it. As far as both General Motors and Ford go, there aren’t very many options at all.
Back in the day, we had the likes of vehicles like the Chevrolet Trailblazer SS from Chevrolet but we’ve heard radio silence recently. It’s quite a shame because there is massive potential in the performance parts that already exist. It has left us to wonder why the company hasn’t spanned the gap as it would be incredibly easy to borrow the architecture from performance vehicles like the Corvette and Camaro.
For those who love their performance wrapped up in a big package, rejoice! Rumor has it that the Cadillac Escalade will soon have a supercharged v8 under the hood. As reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, when the all-new Escalade hits the market, one package will be ready to roll with the 6.2L supercharged LT4. This is the same engine found in the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and C7 Corvette Z06.
Their source also says that the program has been about 10 years in the making. It’s quite incredible that with all of the market changes, it was able to survive for so long. It seems as if it’s all coming to a head at just the right time. When looking at the current landscape, it’s not hard to see that the SUV market is booming! MotorTube got a glimpse of what they think is the new 2020 Escalade.
