Cops Pull Over Car, Finds No Driver to Ticket – First Ever Autonomous Car Traffic Stop

It’s a pretty wild thing to think about some of the concepts that are being integrated in everyday life these days. You don’t really stop to smell the roses all the time but when you do finally find that moment, you can really appreciate how hard people have been working on different types of technology that help to bolster exactly what experiences we have in everyday life. To think that autonomous cars have been in the works for several years now and have shown their merit one public roads is a pretty insane feat to think about. There’s definitely still some ironing out left to do but we have to say that we’re quite impressed by what we’ve seen so far.

This time, we actually take a moment with a flashback to a couple of years ago when maybe the self-driving car market wasn’t so defined as it’s made some major headway recently. When tech giant, Google, was testing out one of their designs for the autonomous vehicle, it just so happened that some erratic driving behaviors would get the machine in trouble with the police as it would be caught going too slow for traffic, traveling at 24 mph in a 35 with traffic backing up behind the self-driving machine. It’s certainly a unique set of circumstances, to say the least, and one that has quite a story behind it to be retold over and over again.

If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to hear the story that tells about the first ever self-driving car to have ever been pulled over by the police. As the car was capped at 25 mph for safety reasons, that explains exactly why it got pulled over, a simple explanation, but this police officer probably had to get taken quite off guard when he walked up to the window of the car and there was nobody behind the steering wheel. However, a passenger was there to speak with the officer and explain to him exactly what happened and why it was happening. I guess that, in a situation like this, it really gets tough to figure out who to write the ticket for!

Just imagine the day where the self-driving machine decides that it wants to go on an autonomous high-speed chase!
