Daddy Dave Has a New Setup Coming For Goliath 2.0… Details Inside!
Daddy Dave dropped some news today via Fuel Tech’s YouTube channel, and the rest of the 405 Top 10 List needs to take note, because this is a pretty big deal. After a full season of running his ProCharged big block Chevy combo, Dave is stepping up for 2018.
The reason the video was released through Fuel Tech’s channel is that, as you may have guessed, the new setup will have a FuelTech controller on it. Dave had ran Fuel Tech’s FT500 on Goliath when he was still running his big-inch nitrous injected setup but went back to a more conventional blow-through carburetor when the made the switch to force induction. As he mentions in the video, the carbureted combo has been working well, but if he’s going to step up his game to keep pace with the baddest Top 10 List in the country, it’s going to require some upgrades. That’s where Fuel Tech’s FT600 comes in.
The controller is basically a do-it-all fuel injection setup that controls basically everything in the car, or at least it can if that’s how Dave chooses to set it up. According to FuelTech’s website, “FT600 is FuelTech’s most advanced engine control and monitoring system. It is an ECU, dashboard, data acquisition and power management system.” Meaning it replaces stand along fuel injection, ignitions controllers, and data acquisition all in one neat, very cool package. It also has the added bonus of power management, which uses some of the most advanced technology in all of the motorsports to detect and prevent tire spin.
Dave was pretty secretive about the rest of his combo, but we do know ProCharger just released their new 143 mm blower that could certainly be used to feed Goliath a heaping helping of air, even if the engine ends up being bigger than the outgoing 540 CID combo. We can’t wait to see what kind of setup Dave is putting together and how it handles the Top 10 list.
