Doc Street Beast vs Jason Cantu Twin Turbo Truck at Street Outlaws Live
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ve likely seen, heard or read about Street Outlaws‘ new spin-off series, No Prep Kings. What started with the massive no prep events in Bristol and Memphis has become so popular that Discovery Channel gave the series of on-track events its own show. We’ve seen many of the stars of both Street Outlaws shows join the heavy hitters from the no prep world on tracks all across the country to throw down and take home a stack of cash and bragging rights. The video below caught the latest action at Orangeburg Raceway in South Carolina, where the winner’s paycheck was a whopping $40,000!
One of the best races of the whole event came when Street Outlaws star James “Doc” Love and his Street Beast Monte Carlo drew Jason Cantu and his boosted S10 pickup. In most cases, a big tire car like the Street Beast lining up on an unprepped surface against a small tire ride like Cantu’s S10 would be a bloodbath, but as you’ll see when you watch the footage from National No Prep Racing Association, this pickup is a totally different beast than most small tire builds. Needless to say, very few people saw what was about to happen.
Both drivers laid down long smoky burnouts to put some fresh rubber on the track, then rolled carefully into the staging beams. The green light dropped and both rides left hard, with Doc jumping out to a lead but Cantu just on his bumper. We all know that turbocharged combos make their move on the top end and, coupled with Doc getting crossed up, Cantu was able to drive around the Street Beast and take the win despite also getting loose on the big end.
Both drivers made good saves as their rides got pretty crossed up, with Cantu’s crew erupting into a huge celebration when the win light came on in their lane! What a great race!
