Old School Dodge Pickup Gets Turbo Gen 3 Hemi Treatment
When it comes to old school meets modern, there are a ton of ways to go. We have to say that we absolutely love old school builds. However, it’s hard to argue with the efficiency of modern technology. It might be just a little bit more complicated but most find that it’s worth it when it gets the job done!
This time, the classic meets modern machine comes at us in the form of an old school Dodge Ram. Besides the drag wheel setup, this truck might not look like much. In fact, there isn’t really anything that distinguishes it from another old Ram. It’s even complete with its fair share of patina that gives it even more of a sleeper look. However, under the hood, that mellow appearance is met with a little bit of oomph.
Now, for many who saw this turbocharged truck rocketing into the 10s at Street Car Takeover Indy, they might’ve expected LS power. It is one of the most effective ways to make old school rides go fast. However, instead, we find that this truck fan kept his ride Mopar loyal. Under the hood, we find a VS Racing turbo along with a third-generation Hemi powerplant! The fact that it’s something different really made this one stick out from the crowd!
By following along in the video below, we get a glimpse of a big and heavy rig that car certainly handles its own. One of the more challenging parts of a build like this is the weight disadvantage. Not only does being heavier make the truck slower than a light vehicle but it also puts more strain on the driveline. It looks like, with a little bit of know-how, this Dodge fan has it all figured out, though. When all is said and done, the truck is a blast to watch rocket down the racing surface! – BigKleib34 .
