Elon Musk Creates More Than Tesla – Here’s His 700 MPH Super Train Coming Soon
When it comes to the way that we travel, it seems like Elon Musk is at the helm of the cutting edge of technology. Most people are aware of this in the form of Tesla, the brand that creates electric self-driving cars. However, we would venture to think that there are plenty of people who don’t know that his business ventures go very far beyond that.
Not only is Musk creating consumer transportation in the form of personal vehicles. He also plans on creating transportation that can take us to space and transportation that can get us around the globe in incredible amounts of time, slicing down the time expenditure that air travel takes.
When he’s not working on Tesla or SpaceX, one of the businesses that Musk has been building is the Hyperloop. Essentially, the Hyperloop is very loosely something resembling a train that can transport individuals around to different locations at the tune of 700 mph.
For those who aren’t super familiar with the commercial travel industry, that’s more than 300 mph faster than your average commercial airplane speed in a cross-country flight. That means that the Hyperloop could hypothetically reduce the amount of time that one would travel from New York to Los Angeles from about 6 hours to 3.5 hours. Oh yeah, and for the record, it’s a 42 hour drive for those counting.
Now, at this point, this probably seems like a project that most are at least interested in learning a little bit more about. How exactly does it work, though? How could somebody improve ground transportation to the point where can it can outperform everything that has ever existed in terms of commercial transportation speed? Just like anything else, this technology has some tricks up its sleeve that could really evolve the way that we know travel.
Down below, Business Insider takes the liberty of breaking down what it is that makes Hyperloop so special and how it’s allowed to be taken to new heights.
