Florida Man Runs to Bermuda in Giant Bubble, Repeatedly Stopped by Coast Guard
If someone told us that they were going to create a bubble and float/roll their way from Florida to Bermuda, we would probably think that they were out of their mind. However, it’s something that almost seemed like it was going to work for one Florida man.
At the end of the day, we will never truly know if the idea could’ve been a success, though.
Back in 2016, a Florida man by the name of Reza Baluchi had decided that he was going to create this homemade inflatable plastic bubble. The bubble would be used to help him get from Florida to Bermuda. However, it seems like every time that the mission went underway, the man behind it gets stopped by the Coast Guard.
This time, we dive deeper into the story that explains how Baluchi managed to put together this bubble and improve upon it each time that he went out. However, we also get to hear a little bit about how the story isn’t one that’s likely to ever have an ending in Bermuda.
Time and time again, authorities hopped to action, following the man in the bubble and pulling him out of the water, saying that it’s too dangerous of a journey to be tackled in this way. It took some digging through the legislation but eventually, the Coast Guard found legal ground to remove Baluchi from the water.
Down in the video below from VICE, we follow along with the story and the homemade plastic bubble that was behind it. At the end of the day, it seems like a journey that’s almost too tough to work. However, we have found time and time again, where there is a will, there’s a way. Perhaps, one day, the creator of the bubble will be able to accomplish this journey but as of now, the self-proclaimed inventor and athlete doesn’t seem to be within range of the finish line.
