Formula 1 Drivers Recall What it Actually Feels Like to Crash an F1 Car
During the course of an F1 race, drivers and fans alike really never know what’s going to happen. Perhaps, this is part of the appeal of any race. What type of interest would folks have if they knew the outcome ahead of time? Unfortunately, this uncertainty surrounding the sport doesn’t simply come in regards to finishing position. Instead, at any time, on any part of the track, a mishap could cause a driver to lose control of their car and end up colliding with other cars or the wall. Inertia is really the judge of where these machines are going to end up taking the driver following a mishap.
In the grand scheme of things, it’s kind of impossible to truly know what an impact like this feels like unless you are behind the wheel of such a car. This time, though, F1 drivers take the time out to try and explain exactly what it’s like to crash a Formula One car. At the end of the day, it’s hard for folks to even imagine the G-forces that come when traveling around turns at 200 mph, let alone the feeling of all of that speed and momentum instantaneously coming to a stop.
