GM No Longer Makes a Regular Cab Short Bed, So This Body Shop Owner Fabricated His Own

As those in the pickup truck enthusiast community recognize, Texas is the truck capital of the world. For those who are fans of performance pick ups, this is definitely a good place to start. Lots of folks there enjoy their trucks in all different ways, shapes, and forms. However, one form that we will no longer see pickups in is the regular cab short bed (RCSB) form, well, at least not from General Motors.

For 2020, yet again, we do not see the RCSB in the Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra layout which is unfortunate. At the end of the day, General Motors is probably making a decision from a profitability standpoint. However, as enthusiasts, many truck fans flock to this format in droves. Not only is it an attractive visual option, depending who you ask. It also acts as a lightweight platform that’s more similar to a sports car than what we would think of as a truck.

Those who have been following Adan Ibarra on Instagram, at @adanomyte, might have noticed that he took note of this trend and simply wouldn’t take “No” for an answer. Therefore, he got to chopping and building and before he knew, it, he would have his very own modern RCSB.

Some might think that the simple solution would be to take a short bed and slap it on a single cab truck that was born with a long bed. That simply wouldn’t be possible though, at least not without some elbow grease invested.

Insteda, Ibarra got to fabricating and this is what he came up with.

On one of his Instagram posts, Ibarra commented “I had a vision and a goal. There were times where I second-guessed what I got myself into but I kept pushing forward. Long nights, and many weekends. I’ll enjoy this build for a little while but I’m already itching for my next vision”

We have to admit, that for the owner of a body shop, this is pretty good PR. As the owner of Leading Edge Collision in Houston, Texas, not only did this body guy make the idea come to life and look spectacular, he created something from scratch that many have been clamoring for! We think that the result is definitely something to write home about!
