Head Racing And Jonnie Lindberg Unveils The New Look On The Top Fuel Funny Car For 2018
As the start of the 2018 NHRA season draws near, racers and teams have started to unveil their new looks for the upcoming season, and one of our very own drivers has a drastic new look that we can’t wait to see hitting the track in Pomona in just a few short weeks.
Follow Jonnie Lindberg on Facebook and on Instagram during the 2018 NHRA season!
Team Speed Society Racing driver Jonnie Lindberg sent over some photos of the new Head Racing Inc. Toyota Camry funny car, and we are absolutely blown away by how awesome the new look is. Those who have followed Jonnie’s career know he took over driving duties for the Head team last year, driving the car for longtime competitor and fuel-class innovator Jim Head after a relatively short but successful career in the alcohol funny car ranks.
Jonnie and Head renewed their contract for the 2018 season and will run the whole season, hoping to find some consistency that the team fought to find in ’17. The team showed some great potential late in the season and are looking to parlay that into a berth in the Countdown to the Championship and possibly a run at the title. They’ve certainly shown they have the power to compete with the corporate teams so the team hopes to get off to a strong start in 2018 and keep themselves in a position to compete all season long.
The new wrap for the car is as wild as the outgoing red/white/black scheme, but is mostly blue with white and black accents. The detail in the Camry grille area is really cool and should make for some awesome close-up footage on the Fox Sports coverage of the NHRA season. Check out the chain motif that carries throughout the grille area, as well as the gnarly ghosted skulls in blue area behind the Head Contractors & Engineers logo on top of the body. We’re hoping to be trackside to see Lindberg take his first win with the team in 2018, something we are confident will happen this season!
