Here’s a Tour of the Most Expensive Cadillac From 1977
Forty years ago, Cadillac stood about where it does today, as one of the premiere car brands in the world. There may be a few more competing luxury manufacturers out there these days, but there’s a reason we don’t describe the best of something as “the Lexus of…”, we describe things that are the best as “the Cadillac of…”
Back in 1977, the top of the line Caddy was the Eldorado Biarritz, the car seen in this awesome video walk-through from YouTuber Doug DeMuro. Sit back and watch as DeMuro gives us a guided tour of the car, which features quite a few quirky amenities that we couldn’t help but chuckle at. There’s the thermometer, which is mounted in the support for the driver’s side mirror. Obviously this was before the age of digital thermometers and was likely the only car optioned with a thermometer at the time. Also outside the driver’s compartment, external light indicators that let the driver know when the turn signal, head light, and high beams are active.
Moving inside, just the door along has enough features to earn a couple of minutes just discussing what all is going on inside the massive entry doors. Continuing through the interior, we get a great look at the cushy interior, including the odd placement of the climate control, the mirror adjustment and the headlights, among the myriad other controls that are just a little bit different than you’d expect.
Don’t take my word for it, though. Hit that play button below and take the tour for yourself. There’s so much more to this car than you’d ever think, so check it out for yourself and see in the video below. Doug does a great job, as always, of pointing out the quirks of the car before taking it for a ride and assigning it his trademark “Doug Score”.
