Will They Run? Starting Junkyard Cars For The First Time
The concept of a barn find is an exciting one. Sure, sometimes the cars need work but that just adds to the thrill of it all. Not knowing if the vehicle is going to start up or need a little bit of love is part of the excitement. Obviously, as someone on the receiving end of a barn finds, our protagonist in the story is just hoping that the car is going to fire right up and not give them any issues. Very rarely is that ever the case. Every once in a while, though, we find that somebody in this sort of situation gets a little bit lucky.
This time, we check in with a couple of guys who seem to be pretty familiar with these sort of barn and junkyard explorations. These guys can say that they’ve had experience with getting old cars running once again. Therefore, they decided to do a little bit of an experiment. Focusing on just one car at a time, they decided to make their way through a junkyard filled with intriguing older vehicles. In a sort of a lightning round format, they would go from one car to the next to see how many they could get started up with just a couple of simple steps.
Would this one be pleasantly surprised or would the guys be left disappointed? Honestly, we could see it going either way. We really do learn that some of these engines have been built to last. Without very many electronics to fix or any sort of complicated systems on board, it looks like a couple of them, at least, end up firing up right away. Whether or not they would continue to run in any sort of realistic driving situation would be another story, though. Perhaps some of these are the beginning of a beautiful restoration!
