Kevin Fiscus-driven Twin Turbo HEMI Corvette Goes Up in Flames After a Wild Ride
With Lights Out 8 looming, many teams headed to South Georgia Motorsports Park the week before the race to get some testing done before the biggest race of the season.
One such team was that of Andrew Alepa and his gorgeous C7 Corvette, driven in testing by Kevin Fiscus. This video – brought to us by Kevin from NitroArt Video – starts with Kevin staged up and ready to make a test hit. As the car launches, it appears to be on a solid pass when something goes awry, resulting in a series of audible pops. Fiscus rolled his foot out of the throttle but just moments later, flames are seen growing under the car. As Fiscus slides the car to a stop, doing a masterful job of keeping it off the wall, the flames grow to terrifying size as Kevin leaps from the car to escape the flames.
A few precious moments pass before the emergency crews are able to get rolling, and they eventually arrive and begin to knock the flames down, but not before the front half beautiful factory-spec bodied Radial vs the World C7 Corvette is destroyed. There is no damage to the twin-turbo Hemi powerplant, meaning the fire had to have been started by something other than engine failure. Car owner Andrew Alepa had the car back in Texas being repaired later that weekend and is hoping to have it back on the track for the Outlaw Street Car Reunion in Memphis in a few weeks.
