Lamborghini Unveils New Model That's as Close to the Track as a Street Car Can Get

Lamborghini, just like its closest competitors, faces a unique challenge that most common automakers don’t spend quite as much time on. The main goal that they focus on is bringing the intensity and passion of the race track to the streets, at least when it comes to their road-legal cars. Needless to say, this is easier said than done as a race car definitely isn’t quite the same as a street car. It’s quite the challenge in taking what the race track serves and molding It into a finished product that’s going to be more comfortable for the streets while accomodating drivers in other ways for regular road use.

With that, Lamborghini has really found a formula for success. Over the years, they have released a ton of cars that really range from entry-level supercars all the way up to these one-of-a-kind racing-inspired machines tailored for regular use. This time, we check in with a machine that the brand says is “Inspired by racing triumphs” while being “Designed to conquer the road ”

The machine is known as the Lamborghini Huracan STO. “STO,” in this case, stands for Super Trofeo Omolagata. The machine is essentially based on the Lamborghini Super Trofeo racing series that features the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo.

Under the hood of the STO, we find the same naturally aspirated V10 that can be found in the competitive machines. The version that is under the hood of the STO makes 640 hp which is just a tick above the likes of the Huracan Performante, another car from the brand’s stable, designed in the likeness of a racing diety.

In addition, those who end up behind the wheel of the STO may have noticed that it has a couple of very aggressive styling differences. Outback, we find a feature that robreport.com describes best as saying it resembles a shark fin. The styling isn’t just for making the car pretty, it also contributes to the vehicle’s stability to help it corner more quickly.

If this seems like a machine that tickles your fancy, the starting price is $327,838.
