Lizzy Musi Lays Down A Blistering 3.68 At The 2017 PDRA World Finals

The PDRA wrapped up their 2017 season this weekend at Virginia Motorsports Park with the PDRA World Finals. Team Speed Society Racing’s very own Lizzy Musi came into the event as the sanctioning body’s Pro Nitrous world record holder, and with her Dodge Dart making passes like the one below, it’s only a matter of time before she betters her own benchmark.

Mooresville, NC native Musi laid down a blistering 3.686 elapsed time at 205.69 MPH thanks to the monster – tell us if this last name rings a bell – Pat Musi Racing Engines powerplant under the hood of her iconic King Kong hotrod. The blast sent Lizzy to the #1 spot in Pro Nitrous qualifying, sending her into race day as the king, or I guess in this case, queen of the nitrous-injected realm. This run comes on the heels of Musi’s world record 3.656 and 206 MPH from last month’s tour stop at Galot Motorsports Park. Had the weather conditions matched those at Galot last month, there’s a chance Musi could have bettered her record this weekend at VMP but the conditions just weren’t quite as good.

Musi’s ride, a Jerry Bickel-built chassis draped in a composite Dodge Dart body and powered by more than 900 cubic inches of her father’s finest nitrous-breathing powerplant. Of course, when your dad is one of the premier engine builders in the world and you’ve grown up behind the wheel of some pretty badass racecars, it should be no surprise that Lizzy runs up front in one of the toughest classes in the PDRA.

Congratulations to Lizzy and her crew for a great 2017 season and we look forward to more of the same in 2018. How quick do you guys think nitrous cars can get? Lizzy has been as quick as 3.63, though that pass didn’t count toward the world record since it was at a match race, but that’s awfully close to the 3.50’s. Something tells us the first nitrous car in the 50’s isn’t too far off, and we’d put all our money on Miss Musi being the one to kick that door down.
