Melanie Salemi Stands a Great Chance to Become First Ever Female Radial vs the World Winner
It certainly is no secret that the world of drag racing comes with an overwhelming male presence. In recent years, though, more and more women have been getting in on the show. In fact, there are a collection of women that we think could be downright dominant this season. That’s a topic of discussion for another time, though.
When DuckX Productions puts on a show. We know it’s bound to be big. More specifically, the Radial vs the World-class has quickly grown to become one of the hottest in racing. A 32 car field of some of the sport’s heaviest hitters will step to the plate to try and reign supreme.
This year, we will watch as a strong woman presence bursts on the scene with the likes of Melanie. Wheeling the Purple Reign “Side Piece,” she will be one of the racers to watch next week. As of now, the car is just two races into RVW competition. With those races, they’ve managed to become the fourth quickest car in the history of the class. Their current standing personal best is a 3.570-second pass to the eighth-mile.
Also looking to make an impact on the RVW world, Jennifer Brooke will be taking her shot at the field. Heidi Carlisle will be attending the race with the car that actually managed to win RVW at No Mercy 5. Times have certainly gotten faster, though. It’ll be interesting to see how she adapts.
As of now, only one female has won a class at a DuckX Promotion. That race was a junior dragster class in 2010. No woman has won a heads up class yet. Will 2020 be the year that this all changes on the biggest stage of them all? When the calendar turns to February 13, the boys better lookout. These girls are sure to be striking with a heavy fist at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
