NHRA Driver Alex Laughlin Parks Pro Stock Car, Prepares For No Mercy 9
If you look at it from a strictly win/loss standpoint, 2018 has been a less-than-stellar year for NHRA Pro Stock driver Alex Laughlin. Between chasing gremlins in his Camaro to Alex himself struggling to find consistency behind the wheel, Laughlin came up short of making the Countdown to the Championship.
However, there’s much more to racing than wins and losses and Alex has proven that by continuing to build a huge, loyal fan base and making connections with new sponsors throughout the season. However, with the NHRA season beginning to wind down, Laughlin found himself short in the funding department, through no fault of his own, due to a regulatory changes for one of his primary sponsors.
So what does a professional race car driver do when he finds himself with an unexpected few weeks? He gets ready to go race, of course! Duck X Productions’ fall radial extravaganza No Mercy 9 is coming up in just over a week, and without the stress of trying to cram a trip to South Georgia Motorsports Park between races in St. Louis and his home track in Ennis, TX, Laughlin is focused on getting his wicked blown Radial vs the World Corvette ready to go to war.
The baddest of the bad in the small tire world will be on hand at SGMP for No Mercy, and Alex has already proven he can run with them, qualifying for the quickest radial field of all time at Sweet Sixteen back in the spring. With legendary tuner Frankie “Madman” Taylor spinning the wrenches and dialing in the tune, Alex is hoping to hit South Georgia like a wrecking ball and leave with a stack of 50,000 dollar bills in the truck with him for the ride back to Texas.
If you’re within a reasonable driving distance – or even if you’re not but you want to catch the baddest cars in the planet live and in person – make the drive to Adel, GA on the last weekend of the month. If you can’t make it, be sure to tune into the live stream, hosted this year by Speed Video. The racing is sure to be some of the best you’ll see all year!
