PRI 2020 Has Officially Been Cancelled
I wish that we could say that we were surprised that yet another event has been uprooted in the wake of COVID-19. As time ticks forward, we would almost be more shocked that this sort of gathering would be on schedule instead of being postponed or canceled altogether.
The most recent event to be impacted by the virus hits incredibly close to home for the Speed Society. The event in question is none other than the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show better known as “PRI.”
The powers behind the show would release the following statement:
“Due to the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, our management team has regretfully decided not to participate in the PRI 2020. We feel sorry and we hate to do this because we love the show, but given the circumstance at the moment, the health and security of everyone in the team is our top priority.
Hopefully, we could be back to the show next year.”
For those not so familiar with the show, it’s essentially the SEMA Show except highly geared toward drag racing. Every year, many of the biggest names in the industry from suppliers to media personalities and everybody in between gathers in Indianapolis to celebrate the craft. It is here that we can learn about new announcements and products along with seeing what everybody has been up to or what they may have in store for the future. Long story short, the event has been a pillar of the drag racing world as a platform for the industry to thrive upon.
Moving forward, it seems like the show is going to try to take it in stride and just focus their efforts on next year. At this point in time, as frustrating as something like this might be, there really isn’t much that anybody can do to alter the path of destruction that COVID-19 continues to cast over the world
