Single Cab Ram TRX, What Custom Dreams Are Made Of

In the realm of high-performance pickup trucks, the regular cab short-bed platform reigns supreme. A visit to the drag strip reveals a plethora of regular cab short-bed applications that have been transformed from workhorses into muscle machines.

Despite the popularity of the regular cab short-bed trend, it seems insufficient to warrant its own segment in the factory performance pickup truck market. This gap is glaringly evident in models like the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX, both exclusively offered in a crew cab configuration. While creating regular cab short-bed versions of these models seems feasible, such options have yet to materialize in the primary market. Honestly, seeing either one in a regular cab format from the manufacturer is incredibly unlikely with the Raptor following a specific pathway and the TRX being discontinued after this year.

Enter custom shops that have the skills to do what they want. With a vision and a set of tools, these shops or creators take matters into their own hands. The latest project from automotive influencer, Chuy RMZ involves transforming the Ram TRX into a slightly smaller variant.

It’s pretty wild to see something that looks like it came from a Photoshop rolling around in real life. The build comes as a result of extensive modifications, including cutting the frame, extending the bed, and reducing the size of the cab. However, this description merely scratches the surface of the meticulous work required to seamlessly integrate these alterations, achieving a factory stock appearance in the end.

Despite the modifications, the truck seems to retain factory capabilities of the original TRX, including its all-wheel-drive functionality. Additionally, the transformation had to have shedded some decent weight, a significant advantage in terms of performance, especially considering the tendency of crew cab trucks to tip the scales on the heavier side.

The finished product showcased below exemplifies the single-cab TRX, highlighting its unique aesthetics and formidable performance capabilities. Through this project, Chuy RMZ demonstrates the potential for customization in the high-performance pickup truck market, offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the possibilities beyond factory offerings.
