Tune In Tonight! Speed Society Pro Stock Camaro Chases A Wally In Phoenix

pro stock

Since many fans were posting on social media Sunday afternoon asking why the Pro Stock class wasn’t included in the NHRA broadcast on FS1, we’re doing what we can to get the word about why: Pro Stock has its own show! While many seem to think this is bad for the class and the racers trying to market themselves to potential sponsors, I personally see where it could be a selling point, and I’ll do my best to explain why.

Let’s look at it from the perspective of our very own Alex Laughlin, who spends just about every “spare” second he has pitching to potential marketing partners. We’ve all seen how Pro Stock kind of gets washed over during the Sunday broadcasts, often sharing their screen time with reports from the nitro pits or top end interviews with drivers from other classes. With a show dedicated solely to Pro Stock, that will be a thing of the past.

Alex can take footage from the Pro Stock show, which will air tonight on FS1 at 9PM eastern time, and let them see a full hour dedicated solely to covering the class in which he’s competing. There’s no sharing airtime with cars that are drastically different than his because I think we can all admit that, shown side by side with nitro cars, Pro Stockers do look a tad slow. Looking at this from a potential sponsors perspective, I believe I would rather see “my” car on a show dedicated to only that class.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m an optimist, but not oblivious. I am sure the Tuesday Pro Stock show won’t draw as many total fans as the Sunday broadcast, but I still don’t see that as the worst thing, because I can just about guarantee you that everybody who does tune in to watch will be dedicated Pro Stock fans. They may not be as plentiful, but they will be rabid, dedicated fans, many of whom would go out and support those companies who support the racers they love.

I know it will be really cool to see Alex wheeling the Speed Society car in pursuit of another Wally, alongside his Elite Motorsports teammates Erica Enders, Jeg Coughlin Jr, and Rodger Brogdon as they take on the rest of the class to see left Phoenix with the win and possibly the points lead.
