Street Legal Miniature “Dwarf” Cars Built Out of Old Refrigerators

It’s pretty amazing to see the creations that some people can come up with when they are left with nothing more than a couple of tools and their own creativity. In the case of Ernie Adams of Maricopa, Arizona, he has been creating some pretty amazing cars that definitely draw their fair share of attention. However, unlike real cars, these machines have one caveat – they’re tiny!

Adams has been working on these creations since 1965. His first was a homemade version of a 1928 Chevrolet two-door sedan. The body of this car was actually constructed out of nine refrigerators which we found to be especially interesting. Being able to repurpose old junk into something amazing is really an art to be appreciated.

Since then, Ernie has cranked out a ton of these things. According to the folks who conducted the interview, Barcroft Cars, they say that he has produced hundreds of 11/16th scale dwarf cars. These cars range in everything from ready-to-race machines all the way to casual cruisers. Each and every one of them is fully drivable and road legal as well which is an awesome touch.

This time, the star of the show was a 1949 mercury two-door coupe that had been constructed entirely from scratch with the use of some sheet metal. Some of these cars take north of five years to build and because of his efforts, Ernie doesn’t seem to be willing to sell some of them. In fact, with one particular example, he turned down a $450,000 offer! Some people can’t even imagine what that much money looks like so Adams must have a real love affair with his work to turn down that much cash. When we see how cool these things are, we can’t even say that we blame him for wanting to hang on to the mini machines!
