Street Outlaws Chuck in the Death Trap WINS Redemption 8.0!
When it comes to pulling off improbable feats to make things happen, Street Outlaws star and 405 Top Ten list king Chuck Seitsinger can straight up get it done. With filming for the tenth season of Street Outlaws underway, Chuck was contractually obligated to be in Oklahoma City this weekend for filming, but he also really wanted to compete at Redemption 8.0 just outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
So, Chuck did what Chuck does and loaded up the Death Trap as soon as filming was over on Friday night, made the 650+ mile drive to the track, and unloaded to take a shot at the Old School Outlaw class. In the first round, he would draw John Doe, the nitrous-injected Cutlass driven by New Orleans rival Scott Taylor. The pair lined up and both launched hard, but Chuck jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Watch the footage to see Taylor make an awesome save when John Doe lost traction down track and got crossed up going through the traps.
In the next round, it was another nitrous car looking to take down the Death Trap, this time the great looking Nova of Sam Harvey. Once again, Chuck’s boosted small block was up to the task, taking an early lead and driving away to take the win despite a solid pass from Harvey’s hotrod. Sam and Chuck both had minor traction issues on the top end, proving just how sketchy the track can be at these no prep events.
The win against Harvey earned Chuck a spot in the semifinals alongside another Street Outlaws New Orleans alum, Barry Nicholson in the gorgeous Godfather Camaro. On paper, the lightweight tube-chassis’d Godfather should have more than enough to take down the small block powered backhalf Death Trap, but luckily races aren’t run on paper, as Chuck once again left with the wheels in the air and pulled away from the Godfather to take the Old School Outlaw win. This is just another chapter in the ongoing rivalry between OKC and New Orleans, and we have to say with Chuck having the Death Trap firing on all eight, it’s going to be pretty rough on the New Orleans crew for a while.
