Street Outlaws Driver Transported to Hospital With “Major Injuries” After Filming Accident
There was said to have been two separate severe accidents that occurred during a recent overnight filming of an episode of Street Outlaws: Fastest in America.”
James “Birdman” Finney would be transported to the hospital following one of the incidents with serious injuries. Racer, Mike Murillo, has been updating the situation on his Facebook page as it has evolved.
The following describes what has been happening to the one and only Birdman.
Finney would be transported to Wyoming Medical Center where he said that the doctors and nurses have been excellent. His initial condition was reported as “Alert but with lots of injuries.” However, he would remain in a lot of pain. A shattered left hand, three broken ribs, and three bruised vertebrae that doctors initially thought might be broken were the main cause of that pain.
Most concerningly, they would also find a spot on Finney’s heart after complaints of a hard time breathing and chest pain. That would initially be a major worry but was later found to be a small tear on his aorta that will heal naturally.
Murillo recalled from the scene of the crash “He never lost consciousness during or after the accident and thinks he remembers everything. He also remembers being pinned in the car upside down and could not breathe until he removed his safety harness and fell to the roof.”
The safety team was apparently on their toes, immediately pulling Birdman from the car. Murillo continues “As he lay there on the ground, pondering if he will live, knowing he is having a hard time taking a breath, he passionately asks in Birdman fashion “Did I Win?” 🤦🏽♂️ Yes, you won buddy.”
Finney would be able to return home Sunday afternoon after spending just over a day in the hospital. The last that Murillo reported, Finney was “Home and resting” after being stabilized in the hospital.
