Super Slow Mo Shows What Hitting Speed Bumps at 80 MPH Does to a Car’s Suspension

There are certain things that we take on every single day and really don’t stop to think twice about. One of these instances comes when we cross over speed bumps. When rolling over a speed bump, there are a lot of moving parts on our car designed to make the impact as comfortable as possible for the driver. However, when behind the wheel, it’s rare, if ever that we really think about these parts and how they work.

The Warped Perception YouTube channel, however, seems to have had that very concept in our crosshairs. The channel has become rather well known for taking regular life and looking at it through a different lens. They’ve recently gone incredibly viral for mounting a GoPro camera inside of a tire.

This time, though, we check them out in action as they take on speed bumps in super slow motion. Basically, the idea here is that we get to watch an entirely new perspective on what exactly it is that speed bumps do to our suspension. However, the plot twist is that it’s not just normal speed bumps but instead, bumps that are taken on at 80 mph.

There are definitely people out there who think that going faster over a speed bump will make the impact feel lesser. However, after watching a video like this, we get a feeling that those folks might take a moment to reconsider this point of view. At the end of the day, it seems to have quite a toll on the suspension and might even make the suspension bottom out, potentially doing damage to tires as well.

By following along with the video below, we get to join in on the full scope of how exactly something like this works. It’s not every day that we get to see a speed bump taken on from this perspective.
