Tesla’s “Sentry Mode” Catches Two Men Keying A Model 3
As technology improves, it seems like we’re benefiting in areas that we would’ve never considered. One of those areas might so happen to be surveillance in a car. Sure, Teslas are hooked up with all kinds of cameras and sensors. However, it wasn’t until a recent update that the cars would receive Sentry mode. Essentially, what this mode does is keeps an eye on potential threats to the car when it’s parked. This can come in terms of somebody breaking in or approaching the car. Essentially, the long story short of it is that this feature keeps an eye on a car when left unattended.
In this particular case, we get to see the feature in action. Unfortunately, for the owner of this Tesla Model 3, he or she would be the target of some people who couldn’t creatively handle their issues. Therefore, they decided that the best way to take out their problems would be to key somebody else’s car.
In the past, this might’ve been something that would be difficult to find any justice for. After all, if it’s done in a parking lot without any cameras, it would be very difficult to determine who did what. However, with Sentry mode, the scumbags were caught on video. To make the whole situation even better, their ugly mugs are now going viral across the internet.
Via Electrek.com, “[In California], If the damage of the vandalism is under $400, you could face up to one year in a county jail or a fine of up to $1,000, or both. The fine rises to up to $5,000 if it is your second conviction.
If the damage of the vandalism is over $400, you could face up to one year in a county jail or a fine of up to $10,000 ($50,000 if the damage was more than $10,000) or by both.”
The clip below shows off with the footage from Tesla’s built-in security feature. It shows the individuals giving their best act to attempt to look like they’re checking out the truck next to the Tesla. Instead, though, one of the guys covertly drops a key and runs it down the side of the electric car. The camera didn’t manage to catch their license plate. However, it does look to provide a pretty sizable piece of evidence to potentially catch the suspects. If they never come to justice, the viral public embarrassment should be enough to do a number on them.
