The Most Expensive and Useless Mega Projects in the World

About $500 billion is spent on infrastructure in the United States alone each and every year. This is just an average and doesn’t account for those years where some megaprojects might pop up.

When a major highway, shopping mall, or maybe even an airport is slated to be constructed, it can be an expensive endeavor. These projects generally come on the shoulders of tons of work and a lot of planning. Every once in a while, though, that plan doesn’t exactly come to life in the way that those behind it anticipated.

Each and every year, these billions of dollars are spent on projects that sometimes don’t turn out to be anything like what they were originally intended to be. At times, they don’t come to life at all because they might even end up being abandoned before being completed. This is why it’s a good idea to have a good system in place and a cohesive plan to make sure that everything comes together just right.

This time, though, we take a look at some of the most useless mega projects in the world. Not all of these projects ended up being abandoned before completion. Some of them just aren’t very useful but cost tons of resources to be able to put together. Sometimes, these failures are due to plan alterations, and other times, just a complete change of plans or lack of vision. What they all share in common, though, is that they aren’t very useful when they’re completed.

Down in the video below from Top Luxury, we’re able to tune in with some of these projects to see how big they are exactly and where everything went wrong. Butchering a project like this is certainly not something that anybody is going to want to add to their résumé but hey, life happens sometimes, right?
