“This is the Closest Race I’ve Ever Had to Call” Street Outlaws
When it comes to drag racing, one of the moments that we live for is the close finish. Nothing is more adrenaline-inducing from the stands or the driver’s seat than watching a pair of awesome competitors go head to head, only to have the race come down to fractions of a second difference between the winner and the loser.
Naturally, when a race of this nature goes down on a track, the timing system is able to deliver results to us down to the thousandth of a second, pretty easily telling who won and who lost. However, on the streets, as we find on episodes of Street Outlaws: America’s List, the decision is left up to human judgment. While cameras are rolling and can slow the action down as it is replayed, sometimes, these races are incredibly close and difficult to call.
In this particular situation, we have a battle that is old as time in Chevrolet versus Ford. In one lane, we find Johnny Quick in the Ford camp, and in the other, Kye Kelley represents Chevrolet with a build that was brand new at the time of the race.
Typically, with a new build, racers would be happy to make it down the street without a whole lot of drama. This time, though, the results were incredibly close as Kelley fought Quick with the reward being a spot on America’s List.
In the video below, we see the results of a race that race master, Murder Nova, called the closest race that he has ever had to call. With cars moving this quickly, results coming down to half of a bumper is definitely some action that we are 100% here for. Catch the clip for yourself down below and tell us if you think the race master made the right decision here.
