Company Says They Can Already Tune the C8 Corvette, Makes Over 700 WHP on Dyno With Turbo.
It’s pretty wild how quickly a platform can be modified once it hits the market. These days, it seems like almost immediately, aftermarket companies are chomping at the bit to be able to throw their own twist at some of the most impressive platforms.
This time, the platform in question is none other than the latest and greatest Chevrolet Corvette. Naturally, with the changing configuration that has moved the engine back to the middle of the car, everybody has their eyes on this thing. A sort of rat race for research and development has begun and has the wheels moving!
The first company to really make progress with a new platform will not only gain a whole boatload of customers. The press and free advertising that will follow is also sure to be abundant.
It seems like the whole hangup on making a lot of power, though, is the ability to tune the vehicle. In the past, it has taken quite some length of time. In some cases it might’ve even been up to a year before tuners could truly tap into the computer and tune prior generations of Corvette. Without being able to alter the tune, adding a bunch of boost is pretty dangerous if not a useless exercise altogether.
However, in a recent post by Extreme Turbo Systems, they touted the ability to push a C8 Corvette past the 700 whp barrier. Curious, we headed to the post to see what we could find out. Within, they teased a “proprietary tuning solution” that would make the Corvette scream.
The post read “Extreme Turbo Systems is continuing to push the boundaries of the C8 Corvette with our proprietary tuning solution and methanol kit. We put down 736 horsepower to the wheels @ 7.5 psi.” ETS continued, “To our knowledge, this is the first C8 Corvette ever to be tuned and break the 700whp barrier. We have a lot more in store for this platform, so make sure to follow us for more updates!”
