VertiGo – A Wall Climbing Robot by Disney Research & ETH Zurich
Just when it started looking like all of the technology that we, as a people, have amounted to in 2016 was going to waste by looking at cat videos on the Internet, something incredibly cool finally came along that we can think of about a million uses for.
The robot known as VertiGo is designed with a wall climbing capability at the core of its functions, allowing the wheeled machine to go anywhere a solid surface exists.
Thanks to tiltable propellers, the robot is able to replicate the sensation of gravity while driving in any direction, including straight toward the sky. We wonder how much weight this thing could handle as we are already imagining mounting a GoPro to it!
Check out the video below as this recent feat of engineering from Disney Research Zurich and the University ETH Zurich is put into action. It will be interesting to see if any major everyday life development comes of this wild thought.
