What Does it Take to Prepare the Original Murder Nova for Radial Racing?
In the scheme of a drag race, the vast majority will only see a small fraction of the effort. Naturally, spectators are really only going to be able to watch the actual race unfold. What many don’t realize is that getting the car down the track is really just the tip of the iceberg. Instead, there are many long, hard hours invested behind the scenes in order to make sure everything goes smoothly.
This time, we get to check in with just one part of the work that it takes to be a successful racer like Murder Nova. As some fans might know, cars like Murder Nova are able to race on a variety of different tires. Whether it’s big tire or drag radial racing, different classes have different rules. Instead of building a different car for every class, some drivers will alter their setup to make one car fit the rules for another class while still being competitive.
Again, this is a situation that might seem rather simple to the casual bystander. After all, if Shawn wants to participate in a drag radial race with Murder Nova, all he has to do swap tires, right?
While hooking up the car with drag radials is definitely an important part of that equation, again, it’s not the extent of the effort. It goes far beyond that. In reality, we find that all sorts of changes need to be made in order to make sure that the car is ready to go to battle.
By following along with the video below from the 187 Customs YouTube channel, we get to tune into that process. In this one, Shawn walks us through the steps that it takes to get Murder Nova ready for drag radial racing. This is just another video that allows us to have a much greater appreciation for racers like these.
