World’s Toughest Motorcycle Lock vs. Ramset
Motorcycle locks have to be pretty damn tough because thieves will do anything to get their hands on a bike, one of the easiest vehicles to steal. However, even the toughest motorcycle lock in the world isn’t impervious to a determined criminal with the right tools, as you can see in the video below.
YouTuber LockPickingLawyer – how’s that for a descriptive channel name? – decided to put the world toughest motorcycle lock to the test and boy did he bring the right tool to do the job. A Ramset gun is a tool used for attaching fixtures to concrete and steel, so you can imagine it packs a hell of a punch, so what better tool to use to try to demolish this badass lock.
You can tell right off the bat that he’s done his homework, but with a name like LockPickingLawyer, what else would you expect. Besides having experience in picking – and obviously outright destroying – locks, he has time to look up how the lock is constructed on the inside and plan out his attack, which he does so with a deadly precision. Not all criminals would have that info, but now they do.
After deciding where to locate the Ramset for the most destructive effectiveness, he stands the lock up on its side, holds it steady with his feet, and fires away. The Ramset blasts its bolt into the lock and utterly destroys the inner workings, despite the lock’s thick steel case. He dumps out the guts of the lock, including the screw that he was targeting with the impact, and the shank opens effortlessly, meaning now that every criminal in the world has access to this footage and can buy their own Ramset at Home Depot, those using this lock to secure your bike need to know it’s in much more imminent danger than you could possibly realize.
Hopefully this footage will actually help protect a few bikes by making the owners aware of this flaw in the lock’s design and allowing them to seek other ways to secure their rides.
