The 2018 Dodge Demon Has Been Revealed With Guest Wiz Khalifa & Leah Pritchett, The Stats Are Unreal!
As we speak, Dodge is finally pulling the cover off their much anticipated, drag-strip-ready Demon packaged Challenger.
Thanks to a series of teaser videos and a little-leaked information, we know the car is built for the drag strip, though unlike the track-only Chevrolet COPO, Ford Super Cobra Jet and Dodge’s own Drag Pack Challengers, the Demon is street legal and street-drivable. It will ride on smaller 18″ wheels compared to the Hellcat Challenger’s 20″ rolling stock and will come with a pair of “skinnies”, a specially fitted pair of narrowed front wheels that reduce weight on the front end of the car.
Mechanically, the car features a host of track-centric features that will set it far apart from any other modern muscle car. The many of the drag-race specific upgrades and features are in the transmission, which itself is geared specifically for the 1/4 mile and has a trans brake that engages low gear and reverse, allowing the engine to spin feely, similar to how a car with a clutch can be revved and “dumped”. The transmission also features a higher stall torque converter that gets the engine into the powerband quicker.

The car will be the first ever factory built car to ride on drag radials and will have a line-lock to help get the rears nice and sticky for hard launches. The car will also have a massive hood scoop to feed cool air into the engine and will be ~3.5″ wider thanks to fender flares above all 4 wheels. While the main two numbers are yet to be announced – horsepower levels are rumored to be 800-1,000 and cost between $80,000 and $125,000 – but we should have that info momentarily. With these specs and components on board, we could be looking at a car capable of running into the 9-second zone straight off of the showroom floor, IF you can get your hands one, that is.
