Testing A Harbor Freight Winch Off-Roading
If you’re looking to start controversy in just about any garage filled with mechanically inclined people, bring up Harbor Freight tools. About half of the garage will probably tell you that they can definitely get by using these budget sourced tools and the other half will probably tell you that Harbor Freight sells junk.
I guess that, for most people, depending on which tools you pick and choose from, a little bit of both might have been correct in their personal experience. With my personal experience, I can tell you that there are definitely some good tools at Harbor freight but sometimes, it’s just worth spending the extra money on something that you know is going to work for a long time.
This time, the tool in question is none other than a winch. As usual, the winch comes in at a bargain price point. That’s not all, though. Instead, this cheap part takes swings at the expensive heavy hitters in the category.
It’s kind of hard to tell if this is an area where the cheaper product would be able to stand up to the job and come out with a satisfactory finish. You never really know when the money savings is going to be worth it and still pump out a good quality job. Thankfully, you won’t have to experiment with them yourself without going into it with a little bit of background, at least.
In the video below, you can follow along as YouTuber, Muddy Beards 4×4, takes on Harbor Freight’s “Warn Killer Winch.”
The test installs the unit and also takes it to the real world for testing. The moment of truth lurks right around the corner, so be sure to dial yourself in down in the video below to see exactly how these machines stand up to the test.
