Ryan Newman Announces he Will Return to Racing as Soon as NASCAR is Back

For all intents and purposes, COVID-19 sucks.

When all is said and done, there is likely going to be more bad than good. However, that isn’t to say that there aren’t a couple of silver linings here and there. We would never celebrate a pandemic. Some things have fallen into place because of the downtime that it has created, though.

For those who remember the Daytona 500 earlier this year, it’s certainly was a storied event. After being rained out and forcing the race to Monday, the event would definitely deliver its fair share of dramatics. On the final lap, Ryan Newman would be battling for the win before going flying through the air. Let’s just say that for quite a substantial period of time, things weren’t looking good. Eventually, though, we would get the great news that Newman would not only survive the accident but be able to recover to full health.

Shirley, after such a brutal accident, the driver would be out of the racing scene for quite some time. Right?

While Newman would have to take a little bit of a break from racing, his journey back to the track wasn’t as long as we originally anticipated. Instead, Newman shocked the world when he revealed that he hoped to get back in the driver’s seat this year. That was a few months back.

Most recently, Newman announced that he would be back to racing as soon as NASCAR goes live following the sport’s Coronavirus lockdown. This could come as soon as next month. The unique situation of the sport’s delay really minimizes the amount of time that Newman would miss behind the wheel. With the extra time to recover, Ryan reports that he is healthy and ready to go racing yet again.

The video below from NBC Sports gives Newman a moment to reflect and update us on how things are going.
