1940s GMC Pickup Converted to Supercharged Off-Road Dream Machine

There’s an old saying that reminds us that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is apparent every day when we take a look at some of the custom creations around all different corners of the car community. Sometimes, perhaps this means that there is a carcass of a machine that is just sitting behind, left to rot, that can be perceived as something beautiful by somebody else who sees the potential in the bones.

This time, we get to check in with such a situation as something that wasn’t very sightly was turned into an awesome machine to be enjoyed. In this project, we take a look at a 1941 GMC pickup truck that wasn’t much when it started. For all intents and purposes, the pickup looked like nothing more than a rickety bunch of panels barely being held together. It really looks like, if it was pushed on the trailer, this thing was about to fall apart.

In other words, the parts would eventually be able to be something but it would take somebody with a little bit of talent and a lot of vision in order to make that happen. Luckily for this old-school GM, that’s precisely what the pile of parts would run into. When a man by the name of Tim ended up picking up the truck, he took the concept of turning this old school pickup into a dune buggy and really ran with it.

The end product is really crazy to look at. Not only does it have the old-school vibe of a 1941 pickup truck. It also brings to the table things like a roll cage and a tube chassis. Under the hood, we even find a supercharged small block making 10 psi or so that’s good for about 400 hp. In the scheme of thousand-horsepower builds, that might not seem like a ton but believe us when we say that 400 hp is plenty in most applications when properly set up.
