The Ultimate Dragster Fuses Rolls-Royce with Drag Racing Muscle
It’s no secret that everything that Rolls-Royce makes is designed to be an elegant luxury machine. This is especially true when it comes to a classic like the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The car is designed for ultimate comfort and a smooth ride which definitely aren’t characteristics that most efficient drag racing machines are going to share.
This time, though, we run into an individual who had a little bit of a crazy idea to take such a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and give it a little bit of a new purpose in life. This time, we dig into the Rolls-Royce that has been reformed into a drag racing monster. The idea was to combine the style that comes with a Rolls and give it a fresh twist.
In order to do that, this machine has been placed on a custom chassis and obviously has the safety features like the roll cage to match. Under the hood, we find a screaming V8 with a massive blower perched on top. It ends up creating quite an interesting aesthetic as the supercharger is sticking out of the hood of the car, really making our brains do a couple of mental gymnastics in order to figure out what’s going on here.
The crazy part is that this isn’t just some gutted-out drag car.
Typically, a drag racing machine will have pretty much no interior. There may be carbon fiber or lightweight metal panels inside. However, this one even retains features like the wood grain on the dashboard. In the back, we even find a champagne bottle holder and crystal glasses. There are even a couple of plush seats back there if anybody wants to go along for the ride. Down in the video below, the folks from Barcroft Cars take us along for the ride to see exactly what this machine that brings a new meaning to “Luxury performance” is all about.
