The TMC Dumont is the Ultimate Motorcycle With an Airplane Engine
Those who see the TMC Dumont rolling down the streets probably have to do a double-take just to make sure that they actually saw what they thought they saw. While the TMC Dumont definitely functions as a typical motorcycle, its features are anything but typical.
For those looking to get their hands on this particular ride, it is a one-of-a-kind concept art piece. In other words, it’s unlikely that it will ever be available for public consumption. However, just being able to lay your eyes on this beauty is a treat in and of itself.
When we take one glance at it, we almost don’t know where to start. However, perhaps a good place is by mentioning that it has massive hubless wheels. In other words, it kind of looks like the motorcycle is just gliding along as it makes its way down the highway.
Powering the bike that looks like it came straight out of a science-fiction movie, we find a 300 cubic inch six-cylinder Rolls-Royce Continental aircraft engine that comes from the 60s. I’m not quite sure if I would be comfortable with wrapping my legs around a 60-year-old airplane engine but hey, it definitely looks the part if you are! In fact, we aren’t too sure that we could think up a more interesting engine combination.
To top things off, we find a CVT transmission that was created specifically for this bike. In other words, no shifting is necessary as this thing should smoothly glide down the road surface of the rider’s choice.
When we take a look at the bike as a whole, it definitely seems more like a piece of artwork than something designed to be functional. While looking at the rider’s position in proximity to the rear wheel, things get a little bit too close for comfort. However, if we were to find this thing sitting in a museum, we would probably take quite a long time dissecting every last component with our eyes.
