Video Shows Property Owner Angrily Brown Bagging Tesla Chargers Due to “Unpaid Rent”
Naturally, with the release of electric vehicles, there were certainly bound to be a couple of bottlenecks in the growth process.
One of those concerns that a lot of folks have that is holding them back from purchasing an electric vehicle is the idea of charging. With the lower tier of electric vehicles offering between 200 and 300 miles per charge, regular commuting might not be an issue but if one wants to go out of their own backyard, naturally, they’re going to have to find a couple of places to stop to charge back up before hitting the road again.
This seems to be the biggest bottleneck in the process that has folks concerned.
Fortunately, there are plenty of places to stop and charge up but at least one of the landlords for Tesla’s chargers isn’t happy.
For one gas station owner in Beaver, Utah, apparently, charging Teslas is something that he is officially crossing off of the menu. In a process that we couldn’t find much information on, it appears as if the companies that own charging stations actually have to pay rent for the stations to be placed wherever one might find them.
This time, we caught a rather viral video of a gas station owner claiming that Tesla hasn’t paid him rent since November of last year. After also claiming that they won’t answer his phone calls or emails, the individual has decided to toss brown bags over the top of these chargers with signs saying that they are out of order.
Down in the video below, we catch up with the situation that is definitely a cause for concern. The only question here is if some sort of funny business is afoot that could be a widespread issue or if Tesla has simply forgotten this gas station where it left its chargers.
