Auction Highlights: Sought After Old ’42 Dodge
When it comes to the most intriguing vehicles at the Barrett-Jackson auto auction, the selection is diverse, catering to every taste. Auctions offer something for everyone, whether you prefer all-original cars or extensively transformed machines with meticulous attention to every nut and bolt.
This time, our attention is drawn to a particularly captivating custom creation: a 1942 Dodge Power Wagon. While many may be familiar with the pickup truck variant of this model, this particular vehicle is the carryall version, resembling something akin to a Chevrolet Suburban but with only two doors originally.
During the modification process, the vehicle underwent a remarkable transformation into a four-door configuration. Crafting rear doors meticulously matched the original body lines, demanding meticulous attention to detail throughout the undoubtedly painstaking process. However, this was just the beginning, as every aspect of the vehicle received attention.
The 6.2 L supercharged Hellcat engine proudly displayed under the hood, a significant departure from the original powerplant that propelled this machine in the 1940s. It goes without saying that the 700+ hp application really stands to wake the truck up a good bit vs the engine it came with.
No expense spared: enhancements feature custom suspension with King shocks, bespoke audio, a luxurious interior, and a power liftgate for added convenience. To top it all off, the truck boasts a striking Ford Pepper Gray finish, the same color made famous by the iconic Eleanor Mustang.
In the video below, viewers witness the excitement as the audience determines the value of this extraordinary machine. As it rolls across the auction block, it fetches an impressive sum, selling for $350,000, a number that sits in the same ballpark as the average American home.
Take a look below and marvel at this remarkable custom creation.
