Dale Jr. Shares Opinion on Bubba Wallace’s Dangerous Fit of High Speed Rage
This past weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NASCAR fans would watch an incident unfold that has since been discussed in just about every circle that one can imagine. From social media comment sections to political news outlets and of course, NASCAR analysts’ podcasts, just about everybody seems to have some sort of an opinion on the controversial situation surrounding Cup Series drivers, Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson.
For those who still managed to miss it, essentially what happened was Kyle Larson in his number 5 Chevrolet moved up the racetrack and toward the door of Bubba Wallace in his number 45 Toyota.
Larson didn’t give Wallace much room to operate which created a controversial movement in and of itself. What happened next, though, was what really made comment sections stir. Instead of just brushing off the aggressive maneuver from Larson, Wallace would go full throttle, veering down the track and tagging Larson’s car in the rear quarter panel, sending him hard into the wall in a dangerous incident.
While an act of retaliation at high speed like this is something that would always be frowned upon, it’s especially prevalent this season. Since NASCAR changed to a new car design, injuries have been much more frequent than they normally would be. In fact, Wallace’s own teammate, Kurt Busch, was forced into an early retirement due, in part, to a head injury suffered earlier this season following a crash.
When NASCAR brought the hammer down, they elected to not give Wallace a monetary fine. Instead, they would simply suspend him for the upcoming race this weekend at Homestead Miami.
Below, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. chimes in to talk about the big topic of discussion around the NASCAR watercooler this week. If there’s somebody who knows the ins and outs of NASCAR and how exactly something like this should be handled, this is your guy.
