Detectives Issue Warrant to Recover More Evidence in Tiger Woods Case, They're Reviewing Black Box From the SUV he Crashed

About a week ago, news would break that Tiger Woods had been involved in a pretty serious car crash. The accident that happened on an infamously dangerous section of road in California would send Woods to the hospital. As of the writing of this article, he is still recovering from leg injuries inflicted during the incident.

Recent developments, though, tell us that authorities have executed a search warrant for the car’s black box. A black box is typically used to show the input that a vehicle has over a stretch of time. This might include different things like throttle position, braking pressure, and steering input.

In the case of Woods, we’re not exactly sure what it is that authorities are looking for. However, they have come out and said that this is a routine part of their investigation, alluding to the idea that Woods’s case isn’t necessarily anything special because of his celebrity status.

Hyundai Under Fire

In other relevant news, the incident would provide quite the PR shock for Hyundai in conjunction with its Genesis brand.

While this likely would’ve happened to any vehicle that Woods was driving, it just so happened that there was a giant “Genesis” logo on the door panel of the vehicle as it appears to have been in some way associated with the Genesis Invitational golf tournament. Naturally, no PR team is going to want to have to respond to their vehicle laying sideways in a ditch.

Industry professionals tell us that Genesis is trying to be transparent with its safety features. Several articles even go so far as saying that the safety features packed into the vehicle likely saved Woods’s life.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 is fitted with 10 standard airbags, most of which appear to have gone off. Even though the SUV was rather battered and bruised following the incident, it looked to be in pretty decent shape considering what happened to it.
