Does a Bugatti Veyron Actually Make 1001 HP When Put on the Dyno
The Bugatti Veyron is the big bad wolf in all of the hypercar community. We’re pretty sure that even the most casual of exotic car fans have heard of this thing. The car is probably one of the most likely to grace a poster on the bedroom wall of a child and is one that even us grown up children look up to.
With a seven-figure asking price, it’s only natural that the owners of this car are going to ask a lot of it. There have been rumors that the engine aboard these cars is capable of making insane horsepower. In fact, our host here says that he even heard a rumor that a Veyron engine has been known to dyno as much as 3000 hp outside of the car.
With an advertised power rating of 1001 hp at the crank, we aren’t sure that 3000 is quite realistic for a production vehicle. However, we’re kind of curious to see exactly what this thing does when it ends up on the dyno rollers.
We aren’t quite sure how many people have put one of these machines on the rollers before but we would probably wager a guess that it really can’t be that many.
So, at the end of the day can this hyper exclusive monster of a machine live up to the advertised numbers? With an advertised 1001 crank horsepower, there is going to be a bit of power loss on an all-wheel-drive dyno. However, these numbers should still serve to impress as this car is going to be more powerful than pretty much everything else that has ever rolled off of a showroom floor.
The video below from Royalty Exotic Cars gives us the opportunity not only to see just how much power this thing is going to make but to tune in to the beautiful sound of a Bugatti traveling at over 200 mph all while standing still.
