Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Heavy Traffic Takes Out Lamp Post (Several Angles)
Every once in a while, mechanical failure is just bound to come up in the equation when it comes to aircraft. Hopefully, such a mechanical failure is going to happen at a point in time where the aircraft can be safely piloted back to the ground again. However, even in such a situation, it takes a skilled pilot with nerves of steel to be able to land a hurt airplane or helicopter without doing any further damage.
This time, we check in with a helicopter that apparently had a mechanical failure that was too big to ignore. The aircraft was flying in line with several others in Romania. The effort was part of a training program for a Romanian military parade.
However, it was quickly apparent that one of the helicopters was going down and going down quickly. It would appear as if the pilot had to make some pretty swift decisions in order to not only maintain his own safety but also those on the road beneath.
As the helicopter quickly loses its altitude, the pilot finds out the best place to put this thing down is in the middle of heavy traffic. As if that’s not enough of a challenge, the road is lined with trees and light poles as well.
Fortunately, the pilot was able to find a big enough space to safely land the chopper. The only damage done in the equation would be a couple of light poles being knocked over. We would say that’s a pretty good trade-off as this could’ve gone far worse. We’re just imagining the helicopter needing to land on top of a car in a spot like this.
Down in the video below, we get to tune in with the situation from a variety of different angles that takes us to the scene that certainly may help raise your pulse!
