Hellcat Power Finds its Way to a Dodge Dakota and it’s a Downright RIPPER!
One of the phenomena that we like to see in the automotive community is the engine swap. It’s just so interesting to see where a platform can go with a creative mind behind it. More specifically, it’s interesting to see just how many vehicles a specific engine can make its way into as said engine becomes more and more available. It’s cool to see the latest and greatest engine shoehorned into older rides but the cost is usually pretty substantial at first before dropping as the years go on.
With that in mind, one of the most exciting adventures over the horizon just so happens to be the Hellcat powertrain. Dodge really did a number when they decided to release a factory supercharged monster that would create 707 hp. Unfortunately, as time goes on, lots of Hellcats and other Hellcat-powered vehicles have been crashed. The fun part of this all is that the powertrain doesn’t have to die with the car.
This time, we check in with what exactly happened to one Hellcat powertrain that isn’t with its original vehicle anymore. Instead, this monster of a combination has found its way to none other than an old school 1998 Dodge Dakota sport. The regular cab pickup truck brings a lightweight presence to the table which should make things more interesting as most vehicles born with the heart of a Hellcat are typically rather heavy.
Down in the video below, thanks to Drag Racing and Car Stuff on YouTube, we’re able to get up close and personal with this Dakota as it makes its way down the quarter-mile. If there was one combination that we weren’t exactly expecting to see under the hood of an old pickup like this, it was the heart of a Hellcat!
After checking this one out, it really has our gears turning, wondering exactly what platform the Hellcat powertrain will make it into next. The architecture is just so stout that it could make just about anything get up and go!
