Jay Leno Finds a 17k Mile Classic Barn Find Hiding Under a Pile of Junk
For those who are familiar with Jay Leno, we know that he has quite an impressive car collection. Seriously, though, we could spend weeks perusing through each and every model that he has picked up for himself and never get bored. Combine it with the knowledge that Leno has collected over the years and we have some really interesting television.
One might think that such an established collector like Jay with a seemingly endless bank account might only go for the pristine examples of machines that have already been fully restored. However, Leno definitely has a part of his DNA that is a pure automotive enthusiast. What we mean by this is that when he sees a barn find, he’s definitely one to get excited about the prospect of bringing an old car back to life again.
This time, we get to check in with the famed automotive enthusiast as he comes across a machine that was discovered in a situation that could very well be described as “hoarding.”
The car in question is a 1963 Jaguar XKE they had to be dug out from under a variety of junk. However, once all the junk was removed from the garage, what was left behind was a car with just 17,000 miles on it that appeared to have lots of original components in the mix. We aren’t just talking about the original parts which are pretty much a given with a car that had been parked for so few miles. The machine also includes the likes of the original manuals, a tool kit, and lots of other cool stuff as well.
By following along with the video below from Jay Leno’s Garage, we get to take a tour of the car as Leno tells us exactly what’s special about the machine and why it was that he decided that he wanted to recover the car after it was sitting under all of that junk for all those years.
