Jeff Lutz Starts the Journey of Rebuilding the 57
When we tune in to Street Outlaws, it could be easy to forget about just how much money is on the line with each and every vehicle competing. At times, these cars have hundreds of thousands of dollars wrapped up in them. In fact, we would probably say that it’s almost impossible to compete with less than six figures in your ride.
Therefore, when a crash unfolds, it can tend to really sting. Not only do you have to worry about your own personal health which is most important. Following that, drivers have to pick up all of the pieces and probably spend a pretty penny in order to do that.
Earlier this year, word would come out that Jeff Lutz had wrecked his 57 Chevy, affectionately known as “The ’57” during the filming of a Street Outlaws episode. Jeff was fine but his ride certainly wasn’t
While video of the crash hasn’t made its rounds yet, what we did see was the mangled carcass of the car sitting on the back of a flatbed. Long story short, we wouldn’t necessarily blame Lutz if he wanted to just trash this thing and start over.
However, fast forward a couple of months and Lutz is back at it again and trying to revive the shell of his once amazing creation. Down in the video below, we get to join in at Lutz Race Cars as the crew finally got a little bit of a start on putting this thing back together. In order to do that, they acquired an original 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop. In the video, we get to see the initial steps of the rebuild along with Lutz addressing some of his critics who think that he cuts up too many classics.
